Saturday we got notice that today was dress up as your favorite storybook character. Well, I knew I didn’t have enough time to order a cute costume online. I asked Alec what he wanted to go as and I knew without hesitation he was going to say Mickey. He is almost 6, and yes, he still loves Mickey and that is okay with me! He’s been infactuated with him since he was a baby. He’ll probably still love Mickey when he’s an adult. Kinda cute if you ask me. Anyways, I went to good ole’ party Party City. They had Minnie Mouse in every darn size and no stinkin Mickey.
Time for Plan B. Here is what I came up with:
He had the hat from when we went to Disney World. He had a black turtle neck. I bought black leggings, red pants, 2 huge white buttons, white gloves, child clown shoes and yellow duct tape.
The first step was to cut the red pants and make them shorts and sew the big buttons on.
It’s a little uneven but hey, he won’t notice
Next I need to cover the clown shoes so they would be all yellow.
If you don’t know it yet, Duct Tape now comes in many colors and patterns, thank goodness! Who knew…designer duct tape!
Here it is after one shoe is covered:
And now both shoes:
And here’s my boy with the final product:
I used eyeliner to cover his nose and a black sharpie to put the black markings on his gloves. He has tons of Mickey’s and all of them had his hands like that. I wish I remembered to take a picture of his back, but I used an old black knit belt I had and made him a tail. Now, for last minute on a Thursday night, I say this is pretty darn good.
I think he is adorable! I could just eat him up!
Now go find some way to use the new Duct Tape line. It’s amazing!!!

I used yellow duct tape to make Emma a bumble bee a few Halloween’s back. Took a black long sleeved shirt and made the stripes with the tape, I loved it since it did not ruin the shirt. She wore a yellow tuttu we already had and I made her head piece and wings. It was so cute and low cost.
Love the Mickey Mouse and think you rocked it out!!
Thanks girl! He was so happy with his Momma this morning
