Friday Pinterest Round-up: Office/Craft Room Ideas

Well, the other day I shared with you some ideas for the craft room using my IKEA finds. I am getting ready to redo that room and thought I would share with you some things I have pinned to my Office/Craft Room board on Pinterest.

Better Homes and Gardens always has amazing things to share and this craft room is one of them. I love the mix of patterns in blue and green. The mix of storage containers is a great idea.

Tuesday Pinterest Inspiration Party #2

Yesterday was my first giveaway and you still have plenty of time to enter it here. It’s free people! Why wouldn’t you want to win? It’s amazing the effect that Pinterest is having on blogs. I heart Pinterest. If you are not on Pinterest let me know and I would be happy to send you an invite. Last week we had some great entries and I am showcasing my favorites below. Friday night was my Monthly Pinterest Girls Night Out. I can’t wait to tell you about it in March. Everyone did their own thing and their projects turned out AMAZING! I have a sneak peak below.

Here are my favorite entries last week for my first Pinterest party. If you are featured please feel free to grab an “I was featured” button on my buttons tab.

Kristi at Bowl of Cherrys created a cute PS I heart you sign. You can find her post here. Here is what she made:

I absolutely love this. I really wanted to do an X & O this year for my decor but I just couldn’t find an Ampersand. I love how she used a variety of items to complete her project. I just couldn’t think outside the box like that for some reason. I am so doing this next year.

Kristyn at Lil’ Luna created an adorable Valentine’s Pop Box Treats. You can find her post here. Here is what she made:

I absolutely love this idea to give to a teacher for a sweet Valentine’s Day gift. I also saw a version of this on Pinterest called 30 sucks with 30 suckers in it. Love the Valentine’s Day candy corn. Either I live a sheltered life or this is new candy to the Valentine’s Day genre.

Last week I went to our Monthly Pinterest Girls Night out and here’s a preview of what was created that night all inspired by…you got it Pinterest :)

Now on to my Tuesday Pinterest Inspiration Party #2. If you created something that was inspired by Pinterest you may link up here. Can’t wait to see what y’all have created!

Pinterest Girls Night Out November 2011

This month was THE debut for our Pinterest GNO! We made monogrammed wreaths for Christmas. We were inspired by a blog that is no longer being published: Flourish Frugally. Here is our product:

This wreath was fun and messy to make. All you need are the following items:

  • Large paper mache’ letter from JoAnn’s ($5.00 *used a 50% off coupon)
  • Depending on your initial approximately 80 feet of thin garland. (Not sure how much I paid for this and was able to get from Dollar Tree)
  • Hot glue
  • Ribbon to make a customized bow

I don’t have step by step pictures to show you, I wish I did. Starting with February I will have that :-) All you do is start at the top of your letter and hot glue the garland in place. Begin wrapping your letter and hot glue every few inches. For the sides of my letter I cut pieces of garland to fit and glued in place. This wreath looked awesome on my red front door! You could also add battery operated wreath lights by using floral wire. Other friends placed their wreaths above the fireplace, hanging from their 2nd floor banister and on a wall. Your options are endless. I will forwarn you that this project was MESSY with a captial M! I had green pieces of garland all over the place and took a few vacuum jobs to get it all picked up but that was with 14 women in my house ;) The mess was worth it with these ladies. What more can you ask for with a craft, friends, drinks and food?!?

Glitter Christmas Trees

This creation was inspired by Pinterest. You can find the original post here:http://eighteen25.blogspot.com/2010/11/glitter-trees.html

Here are my trees:

Here are the items you will need to recreate these trees:

  • 3 styrofoam cones in varying sizes (Michaels)
  • 3 coordinating glitter colors (Michaels: I used green, tinsel red and tinsel aqua)
  • 3 glass vases (Dollar Tree)
  • White spray paint
  • Spray adhesive (Michaels)
  • E6000 glue (Wal-Mart)
  • Mod Podge Sealer
  • Tray

Take a cone outside and spray your cone with spray adhesive. Make sure you get the top and bottom edges well covered. Bring inside and place on your tray. Sprinkle the cone with your glitter until well covered. I did 3 layers. Make sure that you are spraying your cone outside and away from your tray or you will ruin your extra glitter that is on your tray that you can use for future projects. After your cone is completed pour the glitter that is on your tray back in your bottle. You will be surprised how very little glitter you used!! You can glitterize more stuff later ;)

Once you have all 3 cones completed set them aside to dry. Go outside and spray your glass vases with white paint. If you have never spray painted glass before the key is light strokes. Once all 3 vases are completed set them aside to dry.

Now take your cones outside and spray generously with Mod Podge sealer:

You do NOT want to miss this step. This sealer allows your glitter to stay in place and not fall everywhere. I learned the hard way and was constantly cleaning up glitter :-) Let your cones dry.

Once your cones and vases have dried adhere together with E6000 glue. Although the glue cautions you to not use it with styrofoam, it worked well for me and from my Pinterest Inspiration.

Now go put those on your mantel, bathroom or wherever needs glitterizing (what woman doesn’t love glitter?) and stand back and admire your work!

Let me know how your glitter christmas trees turned out!
